👁️ OVE’S GUIDE TO
LAUGHTER AS MEDICINE
🎭 The Science of Why Laughter Heals
Laughter is your body’s built-in wellness tool. Here’s what happens:
Your brain’s reward system lights up—the amygdala, hippocampus, and prefrontal cortex all get involved.
It activates the motor cortex to coordinate your muscles for a laugh.
Vocal cords vibrate, facial muscles contract and your diaphragm pulses rapidly.

🧘 Laughter’s Biochemical Benefits:
Drops cortisol, the stress hormone.
Releases endorphins, your natural painkillers.
Boosts dopamine, which enhances learning, motivation, and pleasure.
Stimulates serotonin, improving mood balance.
Triggers oxytocin, deepening social connection and trust.
One deep belly laugh = minutes of muscle engagement and hours of improved mood.
💪 Laughter Is a Legit Core Workout
You’re not just laughing—you’re training:
Works up to 53 facial muscles 😮💨
Engages the diaphragm—your internal breathing pump
Contracts the abdominal wall—similar to light core work
Increases heart rate and oxygen intake like mild cardio
Burns 40 to 50 calories in 10 to 15 minutes of deep laughter!
Ever laughed so hard your abs hurt? That’s because laughter = micro crunches on repeat.
