🌞 Another Trip Around the Sun
Life is a game—but the objective changes. What success looks like at 18 isn't the same at 40 or 80. Your stage of life, your environment, your values, and your goals all shape the scoreboard. Some people measure success by wealth, status, titles, followers, or possessions. More than ever the quality of my years beats the total number of years.
A life filled with meaningful relationships, memorable experiences, purpose, laughter, and service to others is, in my view, richer than one spent accumulating things.

📈 The Bigger Picture: How Much Time Do We Really Have?
The average life expectancy today is approximately:
🌍 73 years worldwide
🇺🇸 76 years in the United States
🇨🇦 82 years in Canada
🇯🇵 85 years in Japan
With rapid advances in preventive medicine, AI, biotechnology, and personalized healthcare, many researchers believe people will increasingly live healthier, longer lives. While no one knows the ceiling, reaching 100 years may become far more common in the decades ahead.
A 100-year life is roughly:
📅 36,500 days
🗓️ 5,200 weeks
⏰ 876,000 hours
🧱 Where Does All That Time Go?
The average person spends much of their life on routine activities:
💤 33% Sleeping
About 33 years (assuming ~8 hours per night).
💼 13% Working
Roughly 90,000 hours, or about 13 years of your life.
🚗 5–6% Commuting, errands, and waiting
Nearly 5 to 6 years spent getting from place to place or standing in line.
📱 Around 9–11 years on screens
Scrolling, streaming, gaming, social media, and other digital entertainment.
🏃 Less than 3% Being Physically Active
Many adults average under 30–60 minutes of movement each day.
🧠 Less than 1% on Intentional Reflection
Meditation, journaling, gratitude, and purposeful self-improvement often receive only a few minutes—or none at all.
The question isn't just how long you'll live. It's how you'll spend the hours you're given. Every trip around the sun is another chance to invest your time in becoming healthier, stronger, wiser, and more fulfilled.
🌟 7 Rules to Be Your Best (In Any Situation)
1. 🚶 Show Up
You can't improve from the sidelines. Whether it's your health, career, relationships, or personal goals, the first step is simply showing up. Progress belongs to those who keep coming back, especially on the days they don't feel like it.
Ask yourself: What can I show up for today?
2. 💯 Give Your Best Effort
Perfection isn't required—your best effort is. Some days your best is 100%; other days it's 60%. What matters is that you give what you have, not what you wish you had.
Focus on consistency over perfection.
3. 🌱 Stay Curious
The moment you think you know everything is the moment you stop growing. Stay open to new ideas, admit when you're wrong, and never stop learning from people, experiences, and failures.
Growth begins where certainty ends.
4. 🧘 Control What You Can
You can't control the weather, the economy, or other people's opinions. You can control your attitude, your actions, and your response. Peace comes from investing your energy where it makes a difference.
Respond—don't react.
5. ❤️ Invest in People
At the end of life, few people wish they'd spent more time working or buying more things. Make time for family, friends, mentors, and your community. The strongest measure of a rich life is often the quality of your relationships.
Success is better when it's shared.
6. 🎯 Live With Purpose
Know what matters to you and let it guide your decisions. Goals provide direction, but purpose gives them meaning. When your actions align with your values, even ordinary days become worthwhile.
Don't just chase achievements—build a life you're proud to live.
7. 🌞 Leave Every Year Better Than the Last
Every birthday isn't just a celebration of getting older—it's an opportunity to become wiser, kinder, healthier, and stronger. Small improvements, repeated year after year, create an extraordinary life.
Don't count the years. Make the years count.
🎯 THIS WEEK’S ACTION
Mid-Year Reset
You still have about six months left to make meaningful progress toward your goals. Instead of waiting for another New Year's resolution, make today your restart.
1️⃣ Reflect
Review the goals you set at the beginning of the year. Celebrate what's gone well and honestly assess what hasn't.
2️⃣ Revise
Keep the habits and strategies that are working. Adjust or replace the ones that aren't. Your goals can evolve as you do.
3️⃣ Recommit
Choose one priority goal for the next six months. Break it into small weekly actions, schedule them, and start today.
Remember: It's never too late to turn this year into one you'll be proud to look back on.
